Haruka Nakamura
Nujabes Pray Reflections
Haruka Nakamura reinterpreted the beautiful melodies that Nujabes spun, using piano and guitar as the basis. The two artists' music fused together to create a work that was elevated to a new horizon.
The album is filled with moving songs that listeners can only hear on this album, including Nujabes' signature songs, a waltz version of Reflection Eternal, and a piano solo born from the motif of Let Go.
Guest musician Gen Tanabe (orbe) plays the flute and electric guitar that belonged to Nujabes. Maika (baobab) provides a folklore sound with fiddle and singing, deepening the worldview of the album. The jacket was provided by Cheryl D. McClure, an artist who was in charge of Hydeout Productions' "2nd collection." It has an impressive binding that resembles the coastline of Kamakura, which Nujabes loved. It also includes a liner notes booklet with production notes by Nakamura himself explaining all the songs. The photographs are by photographer TKC, who also shot the music videos. The design is by up-and-coming designer Suzuki Takahisa. The binding is a careful homage to the style of Nujabes' previous works.
